The above title should give us pause. At first blush, many probably react negatively to such a suggestion. After all, who would seriously suggest such a thing? Criminals and anarchists come to mind, people who have no respect for law and order. We can’t allow riffraff like that to gain traction in political thought or we risk losing what makes this country so great. Except, we already have.

Read polls, peruse social media posts, watch cable news interactions, talk to your neighbors. It should be clear that dissatisfaction with the government is at an all-time high. So, how much respect do people really have for the government. But, the idea above is not whether we have respect for government but how we act toward government.
We can have a very low impression of our overlords but still treat them as just that – our masters. We allow government to rule over us in ways we never should. We treat them with respect even if we don’t actually feel that way. Furthermore, we allow this situation to grow ever worse as government itself grows ever larger.
It is past time we recognize the state for what it is and treat it accordingly. One thing it has become to an unprecedented degree is a weapon. Opposing political parties and competing politicians wield government precisely like a weapon. A sledgehammer, a battle axe, a whip, whatever is most effective in driving their agendas.Government and its allies get away with their shenanigans because we allow them to. Rebuilding Liberty Without Permission
Government and its allies get away with their shenanigans because we allow them to. Our system of government is designed to prevent the sort of behavior we see taking place. But, it only works if we enforce it. If we don’t, we get the sort of predicament we now find ourselves in. So, what we need to do is stop, just stop it, hold the government accountable. Trends are emerging that show this as something more of us are awakening to. With enough people following suit, genuine change can take place. It would take fewer than we might imagine.
“‘We are at the end of the American project as the founders intended it,’ political scientist Charles Murray wrote in 2015’s By the People: Rebuilding Liberty Without Permission (Crown Forum). That project, as he saw it, was an effort to ‘demonstrate that human beings can be left free as individuals, families, and communities to live their lives as they see fit as long as they accord the same freedom to everybody else.’ Given the U.S. government’s intentional erosion of that ideal, however, Murray proposed mass civil disobedience against intrusive rules and overreaching officials…
“There’s evidence that something as simple as shaming and social ostracism can effectively sap government agencies of energy, recruits, and resources…
“There’s no reason to show respect to a system that sees us as nothing more than enemies to be smashed.”
